Zenith VS Nordic Empress for BERMUDA
Which of the above ships is better to cruise on for a first time cruiser- I want good food, services, and excellent entertainment. The Zentih is about $125/pp more for the trip to Bermuda- is it worth it??

also any info on either ship would be great!!

Hi Mike,

Although the Clebrity ships are voted the best to Bermuda it should not make a difference for your first cruise. The Nordic is lovely. The only difference is that the Nordic substitutes King's Wharf for St. George. St. George is beautiful. Not that much to do in King's Wharf but there is a nice beach (albeit small and crowded) you can walk to. A longer walk will get you to St. Catherine's Beach which is larger. Of course you should purchase a three day bus/ferry pass for $21. These modes of transportation will get you all over the island and you can stop and visit many areas. Study up.

For $250 you should take the savings and go Nordic. What the heck it is your first cruise.

Have fun,

Paul

Sorry to disgree Paul.. but I just love St. George.. the charming cobblestoned streets, the hidden public garden, the little pubs. the square.. a day there away from the crowds is so much nicer. Yes, I would like a day in the Dockyard..but I'd miss my St. George.

I've been on both ships and while they are similiar in size, just the location for docking would make my choice the Zenith. I love being able to just walk off the ship anytime I wanted in both St. Georges and Hamilton.
The entertainment may be better on the Nordic Empress, food better on the Zenith, services good on both.
IMHO the value is the Zenith.

There is no comparision between St Georges and the Dockyard (King's Wharf). In St Georges (as in Hamilton) you dock right up against the main street with all town activity available. St Georges is a little more quaint than Hamilton with more night life happening in Hamilton. You can walk over the hill in St Georges (or share a cab-reasonable)to Tobacco Bay beach. In the town square in St Georges you can watch the town cryer 'dunk the wetch'- cute- check day of week scheduled.
Now at the Dockyard there is a craft area, fort and basiclly that's it. Not very scenic compared to the rest of the island and transportation is required to go just about anywhere. When the ship goes from St Georges to Hamilton, you'll pass the Dockyard on the right side as you're entering Hamilton harbor.

Do I have my preferences- you bet!!!! Have been to Bermuda 9 times with the 10 coming up in Oct on the Zenith. Only once did we dock at the Dockyard- the QE2 is just to big for any harbor there.

Have fun!!!

Yes Mike there is nightlife in Bermuda. If you like drinking and dancing, talk to any casino employee and they will tell you where to go.

The entertainment on the ship will continue in port but the casino will be closed.

The shops are open late in Hamilton. There is a block dance in Hamilton. It must be held more than once a week since every time I have cruised to Bermuda I have seen it. Not professional but it is fun.

Paul

Paul it's Wednesday night I believe in downtown Hamilton where they have a street fair and music. SOME Tuesday evenings they have the Calling of the Troops in St. George with the most wonderful bagpipes (yes, but these are different) and there is a mini craft fair and music. Of course Swizzle Inn is where there is always a party at night..always.
