What to wear on a New Year's Eve?
We will be sailing on Carnival's Inspiration
on Dec.29. Please advise me on how fancy, or not, do people really dress up on this particular night as opposed to the other 2 formal nights on board. This is our first New Years cruise. Any advise will be appreciated.

Alexa: I've been on several new years eve cruises and they were all on Carnival. Like any other night on board it's really up to you. Even on formal nights many people go back to their rooms after dinner and change out of formal wear to be more comfortable, some prefer to stay in formal wear the entire night.
The last new years eve cruise we were on (carnival) they had a band playing up on the pool deck and they drained the hot tubs, filled them with ice and cases and cases of champagne. The staff then filled champagne glass by the hundreds and there was no extra charge for any of it. In addition they offered a wonderful late night buffet and even though we were at sea they launched a few fireworks right over the top of the ship that was beautiful at midnight as everyone was dancing under the stars. I had heard that this was illegal on other posts so I asked the crew and they were allowed to do it since all the fireworks were white (not a distress color).
So, wear what you like and if you feel you've put on the wrong thing it only takes a moment to go back to the cabin and change. You picked a GREAT way to bring in the new year.
Bon voyage!
