wait listed for main seating
Four us experienced cruisers will be traveling on Celebrity Infinity in Sept. (first time on Celebrity for all of us) We booked 2 premium veranda staterooms. Having booked 6 months ahead of time, we were surprised to be waitlisted for main seating in the dining room. This has never happened to us before. I thought second seating was most popular, and that is what we have picked in the past. This time we would really like the earlier seating. I know that the ship is not full, because their web site shows many available rooms, and we had quite a choice in our booking category. Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions? Our travel agent thinks that with this much time, we have a good chance of getting our seating preference. Hope she is right.

You should be able to clear an early seating waitlist with this much advance requesting via your agent...
There MAY be a LARGE GROUP of SENIORS and lots of them like early seating..so that could be the reason you cannot get early seating..
If all else fails,go to the maitre d when you board the ship and request early booking in person...
Good luck!

That happened to us in Jan.-Come to find out there was a large group (500) from GA.
We went to the maitre d' and found out we were 132 on the list to change. So we said, forget it, we won't be at late seating.
Turned out great-i night in the specialty restaurant, 1 night room service (same menu as the DR) to eat on the veranda, and the rest in the Lido. didn't have to wait for each course and more relaxed, I might never eat in the DR again.

Same situation happened to me on RCCL Majesty of the Seas. I emailed them before the cruise and got no real help. The procedure to get it changed is to have an "audience" with the maitrede (sp?)which meant waiting in line outside the dining room immediately upon boarding! It was stupid - but he did change it mainly because there tends to be an equal number of folks wanting to switch to the late dinner! Seems that cruise ships would do themselves proud to allow passengers to do this pre-cruise!
