Ouan,
You will tons of information on Pompeii on the Europe forum (see the change forum button). Go to that forum and do a search on Pompeii (try the alternate spellings too).

Short answer-Do you mean two hours to get from ship, see Pompeii and return, or 2 hours at the site? Pompeii is really large and spread out. Do you love that sort of stuff or do you hate to see another ruin. This will help to determine the answer to your question. I could spend 2 days at Pompeii. Most of the ship tours are probably all day (6-8 hours. So two hours is short unless you really scope out what you want to see ahead of time and walk really fast.

If you are limited in time I would suggest you go to Herculaneum. It is smaller and closer to Naples. It can be done in 2 hours.

Have a nice trip.

Quan,

You CAN NOT do all that in 10 hours. NO WAY. Well you could but you will not SEE anthing. I have estimated times for stops if all your connections are perfect ( no waiting for next service).

Take the taxi from the ship to the Naples Circumvesuvio line train station, buy a ticket to Sorrento and travel to Sorrento (1 hour minimum).

Walk through Sorrento quickly (not stopping to shop or look) go to the hydrofoil station (45 min).

Buy the hydrofoil tickets and get to Capri (1 hour)

Walk to Funicular and take it up to the main town and look at the main square (don't stop for anything) and run back to hydrofoil (1 hour)

Hydrofoil back to Sorrento (1 hour). Rush back to train station to travel to Pompeii.

OK you get my picture! You won't SEE anything! Remember it may be 90 degrees too!

My advise is to skip Capri, or only do Capri. If you do less you see more.

You probably could do Sorrento and Pompeii. On our cruise we landed in Sorrento traveled to Hurculaneum, saw the ruins and had a nice lunch, and then walked and shopped in Sorrento before returning to the ship (that was a 10 hour day).

I think you can catch a hydrofoil from Naples to Capri to spend the day there. There is a long walk up to the Villa Jovi and back along the coastline that is beautiful. I have never been to the blue grotto. On our cruise some of my family opted to use their 10 hours to see the Blue Grotto. The waited in boats in the full sun outside of the blue grotto for two hours and NEVER got in because of the rough seas. It was only because of my young neice getting extremely sea sick that they could plead with the guide to take them back to port. The guide will get extra tips when inside the grotto, so he was not eager to forfit that to take the "captives" back to shore. so I have always "passed" on the blue grotto.

If you want to see Pompeii, go there first, and then go back to the Museum in Naples to see the real stuff.

I hope you did the search. there is lots of info on Pompeii and Herculaneum in the Europe board. You can read all the advise and decide for your self.

I agree with the above post. We went to Italy a couple of years ago. We spent a whole day in Sorrento, a whole day in Capri and around 5 hours in Pompeii. All sites were great. Don't rush the experience, you will not appreciate any of the sites. Choose one that interests you most. Go to it first and spend as much time as you want there. Then spend any left over time in your second choice. Also remember, you will be taking boats back and forth. That could waste a lot of time waiting in line or waitning for your boat. (P.S. the ride to Capri was rough when I went, remember to take precautions for seasickness)
