The Evil Empire of Disney
I hope that when considering whether to go on a Disney cruise or go to a Disney theme park, people will consider the fact that the Disney corporation is notorious for operating unsafe sweatshops in other countries where people work 18 hr. days for mere pennies.

You can read about the fascist, oppresive, exploitave way in which Disney operates by going to these urls:

http://www.salon.com/may97/media/media2970529.html

http://www.llb.labournet.org.uk/1997...mber/int2.html

http://www.coopamerica.org/sweatshops/ssdisneystory.htm

http://www.hartford-hwp.com/cp-usa/a...6-12-21-3.html

http://www.clc-ctc.ca/news/bts-c.html

http://www.sunsentinel.com/discussio...3152%2C00.html

http://www.gargaro.com/rob/disney.html

http://www.uaw.org/breaktime/news_to_you/sweatshop.html

http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~survival/nosweat.html

http://www.summersault.com/~agj/clr/

http://www.sojourners.com/soj9701/970142b.html

http://www.asyousow.org/disneyalert.htm

http://www.nlcnet.org/DISNEY/

http://www.corpwatch.org/trac/corner.../disney99.html

http://www.hootenanny.org/disney_rant/FMPro7.html

http://www.kuci.uci.edu/~dtsang/subversity/pr990105.htm

http://www.nonviolence.org/pcusa/hai...sweatshop.html

http://www.eece.unm.edu/staff/larran...eyklsweat.html

http://www.tao.ca/ainfos/A-Infos96/8/0072.html

Drop dead Noah !!
Talk about Disney? Why don't you tell everyone about you and slave labor. You and your family didn't build the ark, that's a lie. What really happened was Noah promised all of the folks in the valley a free ride when the rains came if they would build the ark.Well the rest is history,it rained and rained and Noah loaded the boat with a bunch of animals and left his neighbors(cheap labor)to sink or swim. Now I ask you folks, are you going to pay any attention to this Noah guy??? Boycott Noah !!!!

I think people tend to forget that sweatshops were a fact in the United States in the early part of the century. Other countries need to catch up, however...some other thoughts on this subject...

I wonder how the people in foreign countries feel about having work to do in the shops they work in? Are they glad to have a job? What would happen if industries pulled out of these countries?

I think what makes me angrier than the fact that companies have "sweat shops" in other countries is the fact that the companies charge outrageous prices while paying American employees (and those in other countries) a low wages. A person at Disney earns approx. $6.00 per hour while the CEO of Disney earns millions per year. After the first million, how much can one spend on his/her family?

I just came back from Disneyworld. My husband and I agree...Disneyworld resorts are beautifully kept, well thought out, etc., however Disney Parks are horrendous in that they are always crowded, etc., etc. I have yet to see a happy child in Disneyworld. What I see are frantic parents and bewildered, tired, sweaty children stuck in long lines (FastPass is a joke, in my mind)...

Tasha,

Thank you for your support Tasha.

Alvinas,

1. Industries should not leave the countries in question but rather should pay the workers a fair, living-wage, which they certainly can afford to do.

2. I agree that wealthy corporations should pay their employees much higher salaries. If it wasn't for the employees, the businesses could not be successful and the executives would not be weatlthy. The minimum wage is far too low.
