Teenagers 18 on Spring Break Cruise
My daughter will be 18 next March and a Senior, she and a couple of friends who will also be 18 early in the year would like to go on a cruise for spring break, they all work and will be paying for the trip on their own, my concern is being able to drink in international waters, just how exactly does that work??? Does anyone know the legal drinking age in the Bahamas, I know I can't keep her from drinking if she wants to, and I trust her to use the good sense I have taught her. I still think the cruise would be safer and calmer than letting her go to Cancun which is not even an option.

Has anyone been on a Spring Break Cruise???

The last place I would want to be is on a cruise on spring break. Obviously, she wants to go on a party ship and that is where the trouble is beginning. There have been many problems with drunkeness of teens, with or without their family and damage to property.. You only have to find a cruise forum to ask this question. We don't even want to discuss the rapes that have occurred lately..

I really am not familiar with the cruises that are designed just for teens on Spring Break. Most of the major cruise lines are VERY specific and do not allow unaccompanied minors. These regulations vary a little but you normally have to have someone 25 in each cabin. Carnival's drinking age is 21. RCCL and Celebrity are 18. These things are pretty well enforced. Our last three cruises have been at Spring Break and we've had no problems. Our teens love the cruises. You will need to book early though as that time is very crowded. If I can answer any other questions feel free to contact direct. I'm sure your daughter will be fine but you can plan on being a nervous wreck!! I've been there with mine but all went well. My youngest is a senior next year and I do dread that week about as much as they look forward to it!

Don't panic!! The age restriction doesn't apply to married people. You will need to take a copy of your marriage license if one of you is under 21 and the other under 25. The 25 year old rule applies only if there is someone under the age of 21 in the cabin. Check with your travel agent.
