Tauck Blue Danube 4/19/2018
We've never been on a river cruise. What is the dress code for evening meals on the ship. How about the dress code for special dining in Vienna and Budapest?

We took this cruise last year - we did Tauck’s Grand European Cruise which was really a combination of two back to back cruises: First leg from went from Amsterdam to Budapest and the Second leg (the part on the Danube) from Budapest to the Black Sea..
The first half of the Cruise was interesting and significantly better from from the second half as we found most of the stops in the former Soviet Bloc countries to be a bit depressing. We’ve been on several other Tauck Tours which were excellent and this one was our least favorite - wouldn’t do it again.
Even though OP is long gone the answer to his/her questions are: 1) The dress code at dinner aboard the ship can best be described as Country Club Casual - some men wore with slacks or khakis with golf shirt or short or long sleeve shirt while women wore simple dresses or skirt or pants and blouse. Some men wore sports jacket (no ties) and slacks. No shorts, jeans or t-shirts. 2) The “Special” off-ship dinners in Vienna and Budapest are elegant affairs and required more dressing up with jackets and ties for the men and nice dresses or dressy pants suits for the ladies - dress as you would for that Very Special Occasion dinner back home.
