Has anyone had recent experience bringing wine onto Costa ships? My husband and a friend of ours are boarding the Serena in venice. We;ll be in venice for a few days and plan to stock up on wine. To be blunt, we drink alot of wine. On vacation, I could see us going through 2 bottles per night. I wonder if we'll be able to purchase wine at different ports and bring it back to our cabin? We've never had trouble on Princess, but we're new to costa.
thanks

It states on the Princess website
We kindly request that you do not bring alcoholic beverages (other than wine and/or champagne) onboard for consumption.
Does anyone know how much wine they allow you to take on board for consumption in the stateroom?

We cruised with Princess in May. Packed 3 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of scotch and a bottle of Bailey's in our checked bags. We never drank any of it outside our room/balcony. No problems at all. We asked for 2 wine glasses and ice in our room each day.

Princess allows 2 bottles of wine/champagne per person. How strict are they, who knows!
We put 2 bottles in the luggage, nobody ever asked anything, it was delivered in the suitcase to our cabin.
We could've easily brought 2 more bottles each, I think.

The answer to the last question is no about Princess allowing you to bring wine on board at ports. At least that's what they told me.If you do they keep it until you get back to your home port. If that is wrong then the person from Princess told me the wrong thing. Also if you pack carefully you can bring a few bottles of whatever on board with your check in bags from the airport, just don't try to get too greedy. I saw one cruiser that tried to bring a whole case onboard in one bag and it was a disaster. Use some commen sinse.

Crazy Americans!
I tell you something about our experiences with German cruise ships:
We boarded the MS Columbus in Nice, and checked two boxes with wine and champagne (which we had bought, prior to the cruise, in Piemonte), telling the staff to treat them carefully. Of course, they arrived in our cabin safely. In addition, we brought, as usual, two bottles of Cognac.
Our steward was so nice to bring us each day a fresh bucket with ice so that we could cool our champagne.
This all is quite unnecessary on ships of the AIDA cruise line. On these vessels, you get decent wines and beer (from the tap) in unlimited quantities free of charge (however, only from 11:30 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00).

"Crazy Americans", I have traveled through out the world and Germany is one of the most expensive countries to travel in because they charge you for everything. You say that all your booze is inclusive well I know for a fact that they charge you quite a bit for all that all inclusive stuff that you get. I priced some cruises on German cruise lines & could not afford them. I pay for the amount that I drink or bring aboard a few bottles of good wine that I put in my check in bags and get along just fine. If you drink a lot I guess the all inclusive deal is OK for you but not for somebody that doesn't drink very much. Each person has to pick out what is best for them and go with that, but in this world you get what you pay for; except when you don't use any of the things that you pay for, like if you don't drink or use some of the other all inclusive things. All inclusive is what people use when trying to tell you that you are getting something for free but hope you forget that you paid dearly for that "ALL INCLUSIVE" tag. I have yet seen or tasted a really good wine that was used as the house wine on the cruises that are all inclusive. I'm not a wine snob but I do like good wine and they just don't have it.
