Suites and cabins on Regal Empress

Hello all!

I've booked Admiral's Suite (Suite 1, the biggest on aboard) and cabin S3A (Catagory 5 cabin next door) for an upcoming cruise on the Regal Empress for myself and 4 others.

Does anyone know these cabins? or catagories?

I'm assuming they will be nice (esp the suite) as they both former First Class cabins from her old days (1950/60's) as a transAtlantic liner. I'm looking forward to a charming old ship with lots of original detail.

Michael

PS: I realize Regal is a BUDGET cruise line, so I already know not to expect too much in the way of food, service, entertainment, etc. I'm just sailing to visit this historic liner.

Hi Michael,

I took a look at their refurbished suites and found them both quite nice. I noticed the supervisor working with the cabin steward getiing them ready for the next passengers. Similiar to an elegant cabin on the lake in Vermont. I did not see the cabins next door since I was not interested in looking at them.

Why not the newly refurbished veranda staterooms? They blew out the wall and the cabin was moved out to what once was the Promenade Deck walkway. Nicely done.

Paul

We were in Admiral suite Christmas 1999. The bedroom area has king bed - bed was comfy and the sitting area had a sofa and plenty of room to relax. We had our kids sleeping there and we had lots of room for the 4 of us. This was our first cruise and we were pleasantly surprised. We understood that we were not going on the most luxurious cruise and I think that having that frame of mind will increase your happiness. But our steward was wonderful- our rooms were kept immaculately clean, the food was fine with the wait staff very attentive. Have fun./

We had the Admiral's Suite...forgot which number...and it was wonderfully spacious and comfortable. HOWEVER!! The bathroom truly takes some getting used to. I don't think any renovation had been done on that! Cramped shower, sink and toilet. But I can't say enough about how nice the suite was. And, by the way, my understanding is that two of the Admiral Suites...forward part of the ship, I think, had originally been bars or a bar. I thought they were lovely, if a bit dark.

Guess what?

I found out the cabin S3A contained a fold-out double bed (not even queen size!), so I dropped that cabin....

I couldn't resist.... I switched the reservations to BOTH suites (ADM Suites 1 & 2) up on Sun Deck. Hey, you only live once!

Michael
NYC
I'd be interested in hearing the "horror stories" too since I sailed her twice and enjoyed both. The food's great, the Commodore Club and the pool bar are some of my favorite "rooms" at sea (and I've sailed lines like Radisson, Silversea, Celebrity and more)! Just wish they'd upgrade those bathrooms!

I too have cruised Regal twice and had a great time. I still dream about the fresh hot donuts in the morning.

The production show are not elaborate but are fun since they are more intimate "audience participation" type.

Another positive is Regal does not just abandon passengers in a port. They give you free transporation into town. Hope they continue this policy. Let me know Michael.

Paul

Paul,

I suspect that since we're sailing out of NY (if the passenger ship terminal is open by then, I hope!) that we'll be placed on the pier after the cruise. That's fine, as the pier is in Manhattan.

Michael
NYC

I did not mean the embarcation or debarkation ports Michael, I meant the shore excursion (voyage) ports.

The NYC pier will be open in 2002.

Paul

Hi Michael,

I should have known you were making a joke and I foolishly answered. Dum-me. You have cruised more than anyone on this earth.

Paul
