Shore Excursions

I am doing the Baltic cruise in July/August and have read Percy's trip report. I would like to know how to secure a tour such as his with Grethe? I feel the shore excursions offered by the cruise line do not cover near the area he was able to.

If you start a new thread titled something like "Percy Help Baltic Shore Excursions" he will reply and he may see this one as well. He really monitors the cruise boards but you need to get his attention. Otherwise post again and I can find Grethe's information as we have done the Baltic tours as well. Is Copenhagen the only port you want or do you need info on the other ports?

Thank you. This is new for me and therefore need all the help I can get. This is the Baltic cruise: Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallnn, Gdansk, Berlin, and Helsingborg I would like to see all the sights Percy was able to so would like to know tour companies that can accommodate. It appears the cruise ship excursions are not near as inclusive.

You are welcome - if Percy doesn't reply (only if he is away) I can give you Grethe's contact information and also Alla in St Petersburg (the company we used and Percy used). Just fantastic. She tailored the tour to our priorities including a ballet (Swan Lake) at the Hermitage. The ship is usually in port two days there. The nice thing about the private tours in St Petes is they look after all of the visa documentation etc. I'll keep watching to see if Percy responds. Like I say the only reason would be is that he is away.

I just noticed Berlin - I don't think Percy did a tour from the ship there but I will give you the information for the tour we had there. It was just excellent as well. Berlin is quite a ways from the port so it is important to have a good tour company there. I'll post here again when I find the name (it was only last summer but seems like years ago now)
How many are there of you in your group?

Here I am again!! The tour company in Berlin was http://www.private-berlin-tours.com/ The contact there was Susan. She was excellent as far as being very flexible with the tour. Everyone was very very happy with it. You could mention that we were the group off the Rotterdam on August 25th.

Only two of us. The port city in Germany is Warnemunde, I don't know if this makes a difference or not? I would like the contact information for Grethe, & Alla. Any information to offer is greatly appreciated

Warnemunde is the port for Berlin but the problem for you is having enough people to make it reasonable. Do you belong to cruise critics? If not you would do very well there. Go to cruisecritic.com and sign up. They are very good - no spam etc and it doesn't cost anything. Then go to Boards (you can see them even if you don't register) Then scroll down to Roll call - that is for members only. Find your cruise line and then the ship. You will probably find a thread already started for your particular cruise. There you will find fellow passengers and you can usually find ones who are wanting to form a group for the private tours.

You can always email the tour company and tell them your dates and see if they have others wanting to have someone join them. The cost comes down depending on the number in your group. 6 - 8 is a good number.

I will wait to see if Percy responds because Grethe can arrange a tour for two - its just that Berlin and St Petersburg are very expensive so it is in your best interest to find some more to join you. Hope this makes sense to you.
If you want to post an email address I can send you some of our pictures and info on the ports.

HiDATrue

As traveller69 says the tours in St.Petersburg are expensive for only two people...BUT, Alla can and will have others join you.

Four of us went on the Baltic Cruise but for St.Petersburg ,Alla asked me if I wanted to have others join me and so Alla arranged for 8 more people...
the
decision to have others join you is totally yours, however ,I would do that for St.Petersburg.

No I did not do Berlin, I did not pick the Baltic Cruise with the stop in Warnemunde ...rather I took the Oslo Norway choice.

But I was in Berlin for 4 days last August.
