I know this post is old but my sister gets so sick traveling that we now know how to medicate her for trips. She uses the bands and swears by them. She will also take non drowsy dramamine during the day and at night. We are now going on our 3rd cruise this coming Xmas with the family.

I vote for Ginger. I eat some real candied ginger before getting on board and it really settles my tummy

My sister sounds just like you. She wears the sea bands as soon as we leave port. She will take non-drowsy dramamine during the day and at night. She is really a bad traveler and can get sick at the drop of a hat. She was fine and we are now going on our 3rd cruise this Christmas.

I know its been awhile since anything has been posted on the subject of "sea sickness" but I can tell you what works for us. A waiter at dinner on a Carnival Cruise noticing I was feeling a little queasy told me simply to suck on a lemon, that he and his crewmates working on freighters do just this - and it works. Have tried it more than once and it is amazing how quickly it settles the stomach. Good luck!

I have been on several cruises but got sick only on the most recent -- HAL's Prisendam cruise around Australia in 2003. On that trip I had the horrible experience of throwing up while running from the Lido. The waiters were so amazing -- they immediately rushed to my aid and threw napkins over the evidence.

I am very pleased to hear about AntiVert and will call my MD before we board the Statendam in January for the trip around NZ.

Ginger also works for seasickness.

Now...is it possible to get motion sickness on a river cruise?

Ginger, ginger, ginger! If your cruise has a sushi bar, they will usually have pickeled ginger. My husband swears by it. He got sick on the last cruise along with everyone else and ran to the Japanese buffet for the ginger. He gave it to everyone else that was getting sick. Otherwise, beforehand, buy them. You can find ginger candy at any health food store or asian market--pickeled, candied, even chocolate coated. Also, we were told that getting a cabin that was closest to the ship's center (mid-floor, inside cabin) had the least rocking. I don't get seasick, but they worked for me when I had morning sickness.
