Room categories on Celebrity Horizon/Zenith

Hello.

I'm about to book my first cruise, on either the Celebrity Horizon or Zenith, from New York to Bermuda this summer.

I'm having a hard time picking a category of room and floor. Can anyone offer me any advice?

I would like an oceanview stateroom, which are offered in categories 04-08. I'd like a full window, and don't want an obstructed view, so that eliminates categories 07 and 08. The descriptions for categories 04-06 are identical except for the deck they are on. 04 is the most expensive and 06 is the cheapest, though it's not a huge difference.

Is the only difference between these rooms the deck they are on?

Are higher decks preferable? I notice that all the suites are on the higher decks. 06 is on the lowest deck, so I wonder if that's why it's cheapest. Actually, it's only a difference of $60, so it's not a huge difference, but if it's all the same and I can save $120 (for the 2 of us), I'd rather do that.

Or if there are already threads on this matter could you give me some keywords that I could search by?

And as long as I'm at it, does anyone have a preference between the Zenith and the Horizon? I've read reviews of both but haven't read anything that makes one seem dramatically different from the other.

Thanks in advance for your help! I've already learned a lot from silently reading your posts.

Christine

Christine-

I happen to LOVE the Zenith--we did the Panama Canal on her--

AS long as you get a mid-ship cabin, you will honestly be good on any deck-
Usually the lower down (deck wise), the less sway the boat has-ie the less motion you will feel.

And the higher up, the more motion you will feel.

Just look at the floor plan of the ship and decide where you want to stay.

Stay away from the FRONT of the ship- as that is where the anchors drop at 6am-- unless you want an early morning wake up.
And stay away from the rear of the ship.

And if the cruise line is having a sale, jump on that---they usually run "cabin guarentees" , so you can pick a cabin guarentee on a lower floor and hope to get upgraded to a higher floor-SOMETIMES this does happen....

We sailed on the Zenith in 5075. A cat 5 on the main deck. Perfect location amidship. We loved the Zenith. Dennis

Had cabin 6072 on the Zenith in Nov and found it to be in a good location. Having sailed both Horizon and Zenith, I prefer the service and food on the Horizon, but the Zenith was very good also. Both are "class" ships.

Regards...Bob
Hi Christine,

Do not fear either ship. They are both great. If you are booking an outside cabin be careful since some do have portholes rather than picture windows.

Also, what many do not know is, the outside cabins on the bottom of ships have a better view than those on the higher deck since you do not have to stand up to see anything. So to go up on the ship to more expensive cabins is not necessary unless you wish to be closer to the buffet and the pool.

Enjoy,

Paul
