Do it! I went in July, the best ship I've been on and have cruised quite a bit. A balcony is a must. The ship was all it was advertised to be. You will love the decor, food, entertainment etc. An excellent choice.

I haven't sailed her but I did hear of a terrific deal for Aug. of 2002. Might be worth looking into.

We took this cruise in June 2001 and it was wonderful. The balcony is worth it. You get incredible views. The food was always good and the service outstanding. The only problem we had was tendering in Ketchikan. We didn't have any tours booked so we couldn't get off right away. Had to get a number and wait to be called - took nearly 3 hours! But we had plenty of time to walk around Ketikan and do some shopping. All of the ports were great, we did the horseback riding in Skagway, and whale watching in Juneau. Other passengers said the White pass railroad was definitely worth the money (Skagway). You are going to have a wonderful time. Keep in mind - it still can get cool (and windy) at night in June. Bring a jacket just in case.

Hi Pat
My husband and I went on the Radiance to Alaska for our 5 yr anniversary. This was our first time ever cruising and were awed by the Radiance. It is a newer ship and quite large. We got a balcony room and were very pleased. The ship has various places to eat and the food is fantastic. There are several different lounges and bars that cater to different tastes. They had fantastic entertainment every night even bringing in some headliners like Susan Anton & The Coasters as well as putting on their own extravaganza. The staff was great and they make you feel very special in the dining room. We were a little disappointed that the itinerary doesn't allow for more time in Ketchikan but otherwise enjoyed it. We went to the Salmon Bake in Juneau which I found was disappointing. It was basically a cook out in a campsite. Not worth the money. I would have prefered to take a helicopter ride to the glacier which others raved about. In Skagway we took the White Pass train ride and had a great time. In Ketchikan we took the combined floatplane/cruise which was supposed to take 3 hours but ended up taking 5 so by the time we got back to town all the stores had closed. They close early there. The excursion itself was fantastic and would recommend it. If you like to shop I'd advise to do all your shopping in Juneau and Skagway where there is more selection of stores. Other areas of the ship include a casino, karaoke bar, coffee/book store, movie theatre, billiard room, card & game room as well as other areas. You definately won't be bored. They also have an auction on board but beware of what you are buying. I thought I was buying an autographed print but when it was delivered weeks later it wasn't a signed copy. When I checked with the auction house they said that it wasn't a signed copy I bid on although that was what was displayed at the actual auction. Unfortunately, I don't have any way to prove that the one on the ship that was displayed was autographed. I think you will enjoy the Radiance as it is a wonderful ship.
