The only line that I knew of that attempted this was Carnival with their (former) no-smoling ship Paradise.
There was no smoking allowed anywhere on the ship by anyone. People caught violating the policy were actually put off the ship at the next port.
Carnival ended this practice however, stating that it was the lowest revenue producing ship in its fleet, implying that those who do not smoke also spend less on gambling and drinking.
This ship is just like all the others in their fleet now (smoking is allowed in many areas).
If its a problem for you, all major lines do have policies that limit where smoking is allowed (and not allowed). For example, on most, there is no smoking in the main show lounge, in the dining room, etc.
I doubt there are many, if any, that have non-smoking bars, but perhaps others may know.

Check with HAL. I thought all the public areas, including bars, were smoke free (with the exception of the casino, where I saw a man smoking in a wheelchair with 3 oxygen tanks strapped to the back.) I think smoking was allowed only in cabins. (Scary, as that was the cause of the huge fire on the Princess ship recently.)

I think Oceania may be as close to a non-smoking ship that's out there. They don't allow smoking on the balconies or casino. Not sure about bars?
Suerich68, I thought the cause of the Princess fire was still under investigation?? Did they complete the investigation today? I must have missed it.

Hi,
The cruise lines are pretty strict about smoking, and more so since the fire on Princess. Oceania has taken a very strict position. But, there is no longer a no-smoking ship.
However, on all of the cruises that I've taken (about 2-3 each year), smoking has been less noticeable and less of a problem. I have asthma and find more people who wear too much perfume or cologne than cigarette smoke lately.
Best Regards,
Julia

LOL! non-smokers get thirsty too!
BTW, if there are only 20-25% smokers in the USA(as I've read) then the numbers on most ship bars are skewed. It seems like the bars are more like 60non/40smokers so I guess smokers do drink more than non-smokers OR they just duck in because it's a convenient place to grab puffs.

Went on the Paradise, New Year's Eve, and it was non-smoking and great. We were on our 1st Costa cruise- the Magica ($299, 7 day, balcony!) and were very pleasantly surprised because of the LACK of smoke. We are very expeienced cruisers but had stayed away from Costa because as the BIG line in Europe & the Mediteranium we were told there would be lots of smokers on aboard from Europe. We went because of the price. My husband has a nose for everything and even he could not even smell the smoke in the casino! We don't sit at a bar, just get drinks there but you can get a non smoking table at most bars.

Tables do not smoke, people smoke and the smoke they create does not recognise non smoking areas, it pollutes the complete bar.
What is needed is a totally enclosed bar on each ship that is non smoking,

Oceania has announced they will enforce their no-smoking policy with zero tolerance. Anyone discovered smoking in no-smoking areas, including cabins and balconies, will be put off the ship at the next port with no exceptions at their own cost.
In addition to that Oceania is a wonderful cruise line and miles ahead of the mass lines. Try it, you might like it.
