Mercury-Alaska Cruise-What is the ship like?

A group of us will be leaving in a few weeks for an Alaskan cruise on the Celebrity Mercury. Some of us are first-time cruisers and a little anxious. Anyone back recently who cruised on this ship? What was it like--food, entertainment, fun activities, etc? Any information, especially specifics, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Correction:
Go to Cruisereview board. There is an excellent 3 part review of a recent Mercury Alaska cruise.
You could also go to www.cruisestateroom.com to see a 3D cutout of any stateroom on the Mercury.
www.mytavelco.com to see a 180 Deg. picture of the staterooms.
www.cruisemates.com to see private pictures posted by cruisers.

We did this cruise last year. Second time on the Mercury. Nice clean ship. What exactly do you want to know about? Most of your activities will be your shore excursions. Ships entertainment is the standard cruise fare, Broadway-type revues, comics and informational-educational talks about the areas history and wildlife. If you want a good INDOOR viewing spot for the glaciers, get to the Navigator Club very early. I noticed some who took books and seemed to spend the whole morning in their prime seats. Make sure you have good binoculars to view the wildlife on the shore and get a good look at the glaciers.
