Mediterranean in October

Has anyone done a Mediterranean cruise in mid or late October? Our preference was Sept but we're not able to find any good deals during this time so are thinking about October, when the prices go down a bit. Any feedback on weather, seas, ports, ships etc. is appreciated. We've been looking at Wind Star, Oceania, and Orient.

Thank you.

Hi,

Holland America also has a good Mediterranean itinerary in mid-October, too. The prices are excellent and availability is very good. It is a good time to cruise in the Med because of good prices, cooler weather (than August) and the crowds are much smaller than months when children are out of school.

Best Regards,
Julia

Hi-
We cruised the Med last October on the QE2 and the weather was wonderful. We had only one day rain out of 19. Be careful where you debark, though, as we did have a couple of rough days leaving and returning to Southampton, England. I would highly recommend October as weather is still fine and tourist sites are much less crowded. Toward the end of the month many tourist shops are getting ready to close for the season and you can get some good bargains.

Definitely go with WINDSTAR--the cruise line is terrific and it is a 4 masted sailing yacht..NOTHING like the large cruise ships...

Do NOT expect lavish shows as there are none-just a great 3 pc band in the lounge..Dining is open seating--anytime and by yourself or you can ask to be seated with others..PORTS are terrific as the smaller ship gets into much more intimate and smaller ports..

We did the Windsurf (it is the largest of this line-has 330 passengers and an ELEVATOR - if you need this)...

We would definitely go back on Windstar cruises again...

Have a blast!
