I tried CruiseCompete.com and

I tried CruiseCompete.com and came up with quotes from eCruiseStore.com, Cruise Value Center, and Cruises-n-More. Has anyone had experience with any of these brokers - good or bad? Thank you! Mike

For the first time I used CC and
chose the best quote (from 8 that responded) from eCruiseStore.

My questions were answered by phone & e-mail; docs arrived timely & they
threw in a free bottle of champagne,
free cruise pic & lunch (worth $15)
@ Pinnacle Grill on my Hal cruise.

What's not to like with all that????

Most competent travel agent would do all that ..... that's part of their service.

If they have group bookings, they will throw in free gifts (or shopping credits in the ship's boutique), ahip board credit, bottle of wine, fruit baskets etc.

You are absolutely right Eschew.
However, what I gleaned from the OP's query was whether CC's companies were reputable & followed through. Hence my reponse.

I have booked 1 cruise through Cruise Compete. It is in the future, Mar/Apr 2009. I must say I like the concept and got a better price than I would have ordinarily through other means. I do wish I had been warned about or perhaps paid attention to eCruiseStore's policy in advance of proceeding with the booking. Also beware using your credit card with there prepay the whole cruise plan (EFT, I think it is called), they "indavertently" charged my card 2 months in a row for the whole cruise. I did get it straightened out, though. so all is well
I can't wait to go

Here is a copy of the policy I am referring to above

A CANCELLATION FEE of 10% of your vacation package will be assessed on any
cancelled/transferred bookings.
This is an agency policy and is in addition to any other penalties levied by the cruise lines.
For your protection we recommend TravelSafe Insurance. Please review the enclosed Insurance package and be sure to sign and return the Insurance Acceptance/Declining Forms.
$20 NON-REFUNDABLE Administrative Fee has been applied to your booking.

Posters did not seem to understand my OP - I wanted reactions to the three companies that quoted to my CruiseCompete request. Oh well, we booked with Cruises-n-More. We will see whether it works out O.K. So far the person (Chelle) I have been dealing with has been super!

I've booked 2 cruises using cruises-n-more through CC. Both went off without any problems. One of them threw in a free picture which we were unaware of until we received a note on board the ship. Would not hesitate to use them again. Hope this sets your mind at ease. Have a great trip.

I've booked several times with Cruises N More, never any problems. I also use Cruise compete, good source for pricing.

I believe cruise compete has become very successful because they do not deal with any agencies which are not 100% legit. It's a win-win situation on both sides

I probably shouldn't say this, but on a previous cruise we made friends with a gal who now works for an online agency. I called her and told her the deal I got on Cruise Compete and they matched it.

We have used CC and booked two or three times, but I would only go with an agency which is reputable and does not have a cancellation charge. I have called the 'too good to be true' small agencies who responded on CC and found them to have 'made an error' in their quote.
That having been said, the mainline agencies who have responded have given better quotes on CC than they have listed on their own websites.

I have used www.cruisedeals.com and have great success. They seem to be able to give lower prices and good service. I have booked twice now with them and I shop all around before booking.

I use Gail at extension 134.

Good Luck!

We have used them several times for quotes. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience last year with one of their vendors. We received a quote for a different cabin category on a Princess Europe sailing that was over $500 cheaper, I called the same day to try to book. Couldnt reach the agent, the next day I was told the quote was a mistake and they would not honor it. Even though I had it in writing . I complained to no avail.

You can also see user reviews of the agents who quote you on CruiseCompete, links to BBB reports, and how many previous bookings they have through the service. This is also helpful in choosing an agent.

Did you know that CruiseCompete now has a site for all-inclusive resorts:

http://www.ResortCompete.com

Same concept as CruiseCompete. Should be interesting to see how it works...

We use cruise compete regularly and have used cvc and cruises-n-more on numerous occasions. We have always had good service, both agencies have given us price reductions on request when the price decreased prior to final payment. We do not like gifts with the exception of a cabin credit. We want the lowest possibe fare. We use the web extensively for land and air travel.

I have booked with eCruiseStore.com before and they do waive their cancellation penalty for most of there cruises. You just have to ask the agent as I did. They were very easy to work with and we had a great cruise experience!
