We will be on the Carnival Liberty on December 6th, but will fly in the day before. Having never cruised before, we think it's smart to stay close to the port. Can someone recommend a relatively inexpensive hotel for our stay? We'd prefer a budget hotel. TIA!

Some of the neighborhoods near the port are less than inviting in the evening. Be certain to get some independent evaluation before booking.

I liked the Intercont

If you are arriving in the evening and don't want to do any sightseeing in Miami, we stayed at the La Quinta East about a mile from the Miami airport. There is nothing around it but it is clean and updated. They just have a tiny pool. Bennigan's is next door for dinner.

They include breakfast and a free shuttle to your ship. Last Feb. we paid $135 including taxes. Dec. 6 is not peak season so you may find better rates.
