Ezron- call your travel agent- she in turn will call the cruise line and find out when you can embark on ship---some let you on 2 hrs prior to sailing (if they are smaller ships) while the larger ships let you on at 1pm. If the cruise line is not doing your air-you need to know this info in order to get to the port in time. Cittavecchia is 1 hr travel (with no heavy traffic at the time of travel) from Rome airport. If you need the name of a private limoseervice driver, email me- I just used him for a cruise from Rome to Nice last week.

We are sailing on the Grandeur June 9; we booked our air thru RCC..just received the documents today and the information says embarkation starts at 2PM. I hear it is at least 1 hour drive from airport to port...also allow enough time for luggage/customs if you are traveling on your own.

Debbie, We are booked on the June 23rd sailing of the Grandeur. I am of the understanding that the ship departs at 7pm and we are planning on arriving (at the ship) around 5pm. If you have any info otherwise, I would appreciate you letting me know. Many Thanks, Frank

I'm also sailing on the Grandeur on June 9th. I have one question though: If my flight get into Rome around 11:00am (and the cruiseship departs at 7pm), what would happen (or what should I do) if one of my luggages got lost? Do I just wait around? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

p.s I do have travel insurance as part of the package.

If you booked your flight through RCI, they will take care of everything for you, provided that you have your tickets, flight and luggage tickets with you, and that you have filled out a form at the airport, once your luggage hasn't get there. Lets hope that it is!

Which airline are you flying on, and what connections flights do you have?

From my experience, luggage get lost mostly in the larger aurports, like Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle, or even Barajas, in Madrid.

Also, when checking in your luggage, make sure that the flight number and destination airport is correctly printed on your luggage tags.

Surlok

PS: pack a couple of light outfits and underwear in your carry on. One never knows...

Surlok,

We're flying on Air Canada connecting in Toronto and arriving at FCO airport in Rome. We didn't book the flight through RCI, we booked it separately. Thanks for the advice of packing some "back-up" stuffs in our carry-on, I'll do that. Thanks again.

Another thing you could do is to check your luggage out in Toronto, and then checking it in again when before boarding on the Toronto/Rome flight, if you have time enough to do it between both flights. This shall assure that your luggage gets to FCO with you.

Good luck!

Surlok
