Help! Can't decide between Celebrity SUMMIT and DAWN Princess....

Celebrity SUMMIT and DAWN Princess:
Each ship offers similar ports for 10 day cruise, so I need help deciding. Prices are similar. Has anyone sailed on either of the 2 ships? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I have sailed both of their sister ships (Sea Princess and Millennium).

I would chose Dawn Princess. We were very disappointed with food/service on Millennium.

We not only were very impressed with food and service on Sea Princess - we loved the layout of the ship so much more. I also like the feel of Princess - more relaxed than Celebrity but still classy.

We found the crew on Princess ships much more freidlier, helpful and personal.

Have not sailed on Dawn but on Grand Princess couldn't wait to get off. Have sailed on Mercury and sister ship Infinity personnel, service and food were very, very good. Am planning a Summit trip in February as a result of past experience.

I sailed the Dawn Princess last December and had a wonderful time. Food was great, service (as on other Princess ships) was great. I have sailed on Princess 3 times Sun, Dawn(sister ship to Sun)and Regal. Only complaint is all the art auctions.

FYI,
Princess and RCCL are merging and Celebrity is now owned by RCCL. Once the merger has gone through Princess will hold the upper hand and we expect that both RCCL and Celebrity sailings will become more like Princess sailings. So I guess it depends on when you will be sailing. As it stands now I personally like Celebrity better.

Laura ... Can you tell me why you couldn't wait to get off the Grand? We're taking our first cruise on the Grand in March.
Message to Laura
you have raised a red flag re comment you could not wait to get off Grand Princess. What were the problems. We are on Golden Pricess Feb.2, new sister of the Grand.

BTW - I loved the Grand.

Sometimes I prefer the smaller sun class ships but the Grand was still Grand to me!

The best service I ever had was on the Grand.

Sailed Sun Princess and Celebrity Galaxy. Layout of Sun was far superior, service was far better, food was better (by a small bit) -- though the full buffet at all hours on Princess is great for a late afternoon snack after all day ashore to tide you over until late seating. It will be hard to convince my wife to ever sail on Celebrity again.
