Grand Princess

HI All,

I'm travelling on the Grand Princess From Southampton on Aug. 9th with my 23 year old daughter. Ports include, le havre, Zeebrugge, Copenhagen, Oslo, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin. I need some help with shore excursions. Has anyone done this cruise? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Check out Cruise Critic. There is tons of information under the ports of call area.

Hello from Detroit...

Though I have never done this cruise, I have been on the Grand Princess twice. It is a beautiful ship and the crew were outstanding and did a great job making our cruise wonderful. My Husband and I were leery the first time we cruised about eating with a bunch of strangers. But we hit it off with all the people at our table and looked forward everynight to talking, eating, sharing stories of the day's events.
And the meals at Dinner were fantastic. We really enjoyed all our meals. We loved ordering room service every night. And having a small breakfast along with coffee each morning to our mini suite was awesome.

Enjoy your cruise, and I hope you post a trip report...

Of your ports, we've only stopped in Oslo and Copenhagen, both of which we found very easy to do on our own.

If you go to the destination section of this website, you can find sample one day itineraries for many cities.

We did the Grand Princess a few years back. It's still my favorite cruise. I loved the ports. In Dublin, we got the hop on/hop off bus. It was very near the port, within walking distance. We were going to do Glasgow on our own but the town's people had a small tour bus that your were welcome to join for a small donation. It seems to me that we had to take the train into Edinburgh. It's a steep climb to get up to the train station, but well worth it. We also rode the hop on/hop off bus there, too.
