Fort Lauderdale Departure: Hotel Recommendation?

Hello! My husband and I are taking our first cruise in September out of Fort Lauderdale (RCCL Enchantment). Can anyone tell me how close the airport is to where the ship departs from? Also, any beachfront hotel recommendations near either airport or departure point! Thanks from a rookie...

Hi, we stayed in Ft Lauderdale for the first time at the Marriott right on the beach. It's only a few minutes from the airport and we could see the cruise ships from our room. It was perfect. Not too many of the hotels are right ON the beach, they are across the street. We wished we had booked rooms for after the cruise. have a good Time!

The Airport and Seaport are quite close... 10-15 minute drive at most I think. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites right near the port (the street name eludes me right now). Not bad, and you can see the ships coming in and out of port! If you work for the US Government, and depending on the time of travel you get a great rate. This is not a beachfront hotel but it's so close to the port that it makes things simpler when you're ready to transfer to your ship. It is on the intracoastal waterway though, and the beach is not that far by car. My wife and I even walk there but then again, my wife is a real WALKER!

The airport is extremely close to the Port. After checking out a lot of hotels for a friend I came to the following conclusion: the Marriott Harbour Beach Hotel is the nicest in the area. As someone already mentioned it's right on the beach, tucked away on a side street and near a stop on the water taxi route if you have the time to see places on the intercoastal. I have stayed at the Embassy Suites and it has the advantage of the free drinks and hors d'oerves as well as breakfast but it's on 17th St., surrounded by other hotels and fast food restaurants. Pier 66 is nice and on the intercoastal (waterway). I, too, suggest you read the hotel reviews on biddingfortravel.com.

We're staying at the Hyatt Pier 66 on our next cruise later this month.
