Cruising alone

I am wondering whether any of the cruiselines offer good deals for single passengers. I love travelling alone and my husband is a bit of a stay-at-home lad, but I really don't want to have to pay the twin fares. Surely it must be a big market and surely the cruiselines have a solution. I would accept shared dormitories!!

First, aboard a ship the rooms are referred to as cabins.

As a single, I am not aware of any cruiseline that offers
shares but of course I could be wrong.

Most lines hit the single w/200% increase, some are 150%
(and sometimes less). Holland America is one that comes to
mind.

You might investigate Tour companies that offer cruises.
Some will offer to pair you up w/another person. And, on
occasion if none are forthcoming, you will occupy the cabin
at no increased cost.

On the Vacations to Go web site they have lists of cruises offering good prices for singles. Just click on single discounts on their list on the left side of page.

Princess used to offer good fares for singles after the first cruise (I know, it doesn't help on the first one) but we haven't sailed Princess in a while. May be worth checking.

It's a world that discriminates against singles whether it be a tour company or a cruise line....while I understand the nered for some sort of a single supplement to discourage two friends who can share from each requesting a single, there is no way a 200% supplement can be justified (few singles consume twice as much food).....but that's the way it is.

You might also try signing up for a travel club that matches people so you don't pay the single supplement. I know of www.womenstravelclub.com a friend of mine belongs to.
