Cruise to Mediterranean

Hello,

I am considering a cruise in Sept. It's on Royal Caribbean and it goes from Barcelona, the France (Marseille & near Canne), Corsica, Tunisia and Rome.
Has anyone went on this particular cruise? In addition, I'm considering a solo cruise but the price is the same as bringing a guest, any way out of paying that huge supplement? What about purchasing my ticket at the last minute, can I save money?
Thank you.

Single supplements are the norm and occasionally cruise lines offer a lower supplement, say 150% instead of 200.

Waiting til the last minute will normally result in higher prices and a poor selection of cabins. Also, air will likely be higher.

Voyager is selling very well on that route so would advise if you want to take that cruise, do not put off booking.

I have done this routing and it is not my favorite but what specifically do you want to know?

Thanks for the info. I simply wanted to be able to travel to Southern France, Tunisia and Corsica. Why is it not your favorite route? I've been to Rome already and I'd probably stay a few extra days in Barcelona. Do you know if there are excursions at each stop? Thanks

I enjoy Barcelona and also liked Corsica. France is simply not my favorite country to visit, period. I have been to Nice, Cannes, Paris (5x), Marseille and other areas. Just personal taste.

I have been to Marseille several times and the excursions were very expensive (as ship sponsored excursions tend to be). I was in Tunis last July and the heat was too intense to do much;it was well over 100 and I live in FL and still could not enjoy the port because of the heat. That is one place where I think an excursion is mandatory and I am one who always prefers independence to be being led around in a pack.

There are always excursions at every stop, as these are a large source of revenue for the ships.

I suggest you visit the ports of call board over on cruisecritic.com as there is a wealth of information there!
