Carnival is already having problems with our Port. They want the city to remove/raise electrical lines over the river. (something that you'd have thought that BOTH parties would have dealt with prior to a deal being made)

They're threatening to move the Conquest to GULFPORT, MS. (Which would be fine with me!)

Nanette...you have to be kidding. What is NO thinking? 3500 people a week coming to town to spend? Surely they will not let this floating jackpot move to another town. Do you have a url for that article or news? thanks

I read where it is not going to cost thousands but millions to move these lines. Looks like the ship will position to Gulfport in the Spring.

Paul

Jack is right on this one. I just read the power company is going to bury the lines. Apparently the city really wants this ship.

The only problem is that it will take 18 months. Carnival does not have the time since when the river rises the ship will not be able to make it under the lines.

The power company has agreed to shut off the power to the lines when the ship passes under but Carnival believes this is not such a great fix.

There is no mention of the date that the ship will locate to Gulfport. It is OK for now. I presume it will be touch and go for the future.

As for xxx. You can cancel and get a refund if you have not made your final payment. If worse comes to worse, it will not cost you that much money to rent a car for a day at each end of your cruise and drive to Gulfport and back. I believe it is less than 80 miles one way. I, for one, would not let a ship relocation ruin what seems like a great vacation.

Good luck,

Paul
