cell phones on ships in alaska to calif anyone use them

From Seattle to Juneau, service is intermittent, depending upon where you are and your carrier. Certainly fine in big cities...off and on elsewhere. Watch out for roaming rates in Canada...your carrier will explain details.

A great deal depends on your carrier, with ATT and Verizon probably having the best service. As stated above you are in Canada a good portion of the time and roaming could be considerable, however service will be far and few while sailing. Service is generally better on outgoing than incoming. Call and verify coverage with your service. If you have Verizon- be certain to switch your plan for the month to Nationwide if you have American's choice.

Cellular One has excellent coverage in Alaska.

With Sprint PCS, make sure that you have a plan that includes roaming. Otherwise, you are charged for the roaming.
