Celebrity Millennium

My husband and I are booked on the Millennium for Sept. 16. I called Celebrity and told them we might not be able to make the cruise because all the airports are closed. They told me if we didn't make the cruise we would lose our money because we opted to make our own flight reservations. We bought trip insurance but they said we couldn't use it because it doesn't cover disasters. I didn't expect a refund but you would think they would at least offer to reschedule. The nation is experiencing a tragedy like we've never experienced before. I can't believe celebrity would be so heartless. We are Captain's Club members and we plan on turning in our cards after the way they treated us. We will cruise again but it won't be on Celebrity.

Mary- Did you purchase your cruise via a travel agent? If so,call her/him right away and see if they can do anything for you....Most trip calcellation does not cover acts of war--some DO cover terrorism..Who did you have trip cxl insur.through... Did you ask Celebrity if you could re-schedule? I would suggest a call to Celebrity and ask to speak to the head of Customer service--If that doesn't work, ask to be put through to the President of the line--His secretary may be able to help you. In all honesty,I feel by Sept.16 ,the planes will be in the air--Make sure you write down the name and extension of EVERY person you talk to--- phone=1-800-437-6700--rings in to RCL but ask for Celebrity...Good luck

You would have better luck with trip insurance if you bought third party verses Celebrity's insurance. That would sometimes cover if the flights are not flying (verses Celebrity whose insurance would not cover your flight if you didn't book it with them).

I agree with Andy - have your TA fight for you on this and call everyone at Celebrity.

From what I hear - the other cruiselines are acting the same way which is very sad!

Thanks for the help. I booked my cruise thru AAA. The insurance is also with them. I found some helpful infor. on the Celebrity website. I called Celebrity twice and was told something different each time. They basically don't know what to do. Our cruise leaves out of Barcelona on Sunday Sept. 16. It doesn't look like we will be on it unless things change dramatically.

Mary- go to www.cruisediva.com/news_week_092001.htm

It gives the policies of ALL the cruise lines as far as cancelling goes--I think you will be ok to cancel if you do so by Sept.16

Celebrity finally decided to give us a voucher. It can be used anytime between now and Dec. 2002, except for June, July and August. We will try again next year. Thanks for the help.
