Celebrity: Mercury vs. Galaxy?

I'm thinking of planning a cruise on the Celebrity Galaxy in April (Southern Carribean) --- I have been on the Mercury, which was wonderful. I'm just concerned that these two ships, as sister ships, are so similiar that it will not be a "new" enough experience. Has anyone been on both that could give me some information on the difference? - I don't know if sister ship equates to twin set-ups. Thank you!

The ships are very different in decor, but they have the same standard as far as food and service are concerned and the layout of the staterooms will be very similar. Check out the Cruise Critic at: http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/index.cfm?partner=1

For something completley different, try Radisson Seven Seas Cruises. Botht the Radisson Diamond and the new Seven Seas Mariner do cruises in the Caribbean in April.

I've been on the Mercury and it was a beautiful ship. Very classy. I'd be interested in hearing about the Galaxy myself.

Carole,

Galaxy and Mercury are both fabulous ships! I prefer the Mercury because of the decor. However, the service, food, shows are similiar. The layout and cabins are the same as well. If you enjoyed the Mercury before, you will love the Galaxy just as much. The itinerary is hard to beat as well.
I understand that you are nervous about it not being a "new enough experience", but why try something new, if you loved the Mercury! If you go on the Galaxy, you WILL feel like you are on a different ship, but with the same great service and amenities!

Enjoy, wherever you go!

We have sailed both and think they are outstanding. The Galaxy is gorgeous and her service and food is so superior to many other lines, we find it hard to leave a good thing. We sailed the Southern Carribean on Royal Carribean several years ago and did not care for some of the ports. Our preference is definitely the Eastern or Western. Actually, the more days at sea the better for us. We get to enjoy the ship more!!! If Southern is what you're looking for, you can't go wrong on Galaxy. Have fun!!!!
