OK, guys. Help me out. I am a 30-year old female (single). Which cruise-line <BR>is better. Carnival or Royal Carribean?

<BR>Your previous post stated you were looking for R&R and scenic beauty and I suggested Royal Caribbean. Now this post sounds like you are looking for other sights. Which is it? <BR> <BR>Paul <BR>

Texasriders posts: <BR> <BR>"This is not representative of the cruising public. Most cruisers do not spend their leisure time on the cruise boards." <BR> <BR>Not true, I cruise all the time and check into this board at least once a month. When I see trolls like Paul posting BS and accusing me of "hallucinating" my bad experience on Carnival, I make sure to check back and call him on his BS. <BR> <BR>Carnival=crew apathy.

I thought carnival was ok until I started trying some other lines. Then I realized how it was more like Walmart than Neiman Marcus. <BR>

Complainers remember you pay for Holiday inn you don't get a Ritz. Carnival is fine. Just remember what you are paying for. I think any trip can be made fun with the right attitude. There are loud people on every cruise/resort. cruising is not for everyone. Don't be so petty. enjoy yourself.

May I ask how old are the people who are complaining about Carnival?

I've cruised on Carnival twice and had a great time both times. We had great service also. Just like with everything else, some people will love something and others will hate the same thing. I do agree with the comment though that if you are a 19-20-something male, you'll probably get lucky! I'm going to be taking another cruise this fall on Royal Carribean this time to try something different. And just a note on Paradise, my travel agent advised me against it....wonder why there is only one smoke-free ship?? It apparently is pretty boring and they have problems filling it up. The bright side is you won't have to deal with a crowd!!

JUST FINISHED READING A YEARS WORTH OF OPINIONS ABOUT CARNIVAL. WE'RE GETTING READY TO GO ON THE TRIUMPH IN JANUARY TO THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE SAILED TWICE PREVIOUSLY ON CARNIVAL AND HAVE ENJOYED BOTH TRIPS. I SEE MANY MORE NEGATIVE OPINIONS POSTED THAN POSITIVE. THIS IS BECAUSE SATISFIED CRUISERS DON'T HAVE THE IMPETUS TO WRITE OPINIONS. THIS IS PSYCHOLOGY 101. PEOPLE WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE WRONGED, WHETHER OR NOT IT'S TRUE, ALWAYS SQUAWK THE LOUDEST. IT'S ATTITUDE, FOLKS. ONE PERSON CAN TAKE A CRUISE AND TURN IT INTO A GREAT EXPERIENCE. ANOTHER PERSON TAKES THE SAME CRUISE AND HAS A HORRIBLE TIME. YOU FIGURE IT OUT.

And then some folks who have already booked on Carnival have to find a way to justify their decision.

Last year we asked this board for their opinion of Carnival. We were nervous because of all the bad press and we had never sailed before. Paul assured me that the line was great and we would have a good time. He lied. Never again. We did have a good time despite the ship because of the ports and just being together. Our fellow passengers were awful. Lots of obese people who never left the mediocre (at best) buffet. Lots of passed out people in the dirty, crowded pool area. Hot tubs overrun by young kids. You get the picture. Carnival gets a lot of good reviews from people who have only sailed Carnival. They like to label anyone who is not satified with Carnival as a 'snob'. Keep in mind that these people consider hairy chest contests amusing. I doubt many of them have been exposed to the finer things in life and thus do not know the difference. This year Celebrity!

Oh but you are sooooo wrong. Paul is iffalible. Ask him. He will tell you that you are delusional or that you need to spend more money and go on another CCL cruise. Yes. Until you have blown several thousand dollars on CCL you are wrong about anything you say.<BR><BR>With some exceptions most of the larger cruise lines have lowered their standards or quality to get "Joe Average" on their lines.<BR><BR>It used to be nice when good service was the norm and not something you had to tip extra for.

I have sailed on NCL, RCCL, HAL and Carnival. I prefer Carnival.<BR>A) Best value for my money<BR>B) Real, decent people (not people who think they are better than everyone else.<BR><BR>BTW...I don't fit Carnival's demographic. I probably make more each year than those who sail on HAL but I prefer Carnival. I work hard for my money and prefer to spend it where I can be around real people. Not those who think that the amount of money they make and spend = class. Big difference.

So in order to be real you have to:<BR><BR>1. dress poorly<BR><BR>2. smuggle soda<BR><BR>3. drink excessively<BR><BR>4. have poor manners<BR><BR>I'd rather be fake!

why can't we just get along!<BR><BR>I have cruise Carnival 4 times and RCL once and I have been able to enjoy both lines for very different reasons. <BR><BR>Carnival surely could speed up embarkation and debarkabtion process but when you are with a group of friends, it is just more time to hang and have fun...<BR><BR>RCL embark and debark is a masterpiece in my opion. <BR><BR>Food on both was just fine...gives you ample choices to diet to "high brow" food. <BR><BR>Rooms on Carnival great...room on RCL was under the Casino and the chairs on the tile was a disaster....grating all night long....<BR><BR>well everyone has an opionion and this one is mine...<BR><BR>I would recommend both lines depending on the demographic and the purpose of their cruise.
