Carnival Destiny

Has anyone out there ever cruised on the Carnival Destiny. If so, how was the food, interior cabin room size, sanitation etc. I notice it is not rated as highly as Carnival Legend or many of the RC ships. We've been on Royal Caribbean before and were impressed so don't want to be disappointed by the Destiny. Thanks.

We took that ship last yr. and here you go:
1. Cleanliness: No problem with us. The rooms and public areas were always clean and neat and our cabin was well tended.
2. Size: We upgraded to a balcony room and thought the size was adequate. There were 4 of us in this rm. and we managed quite well.
3. Food: A definite plus IMHO. We had a 7 night cruise and entrees included lobster, prime rib, filet mignon, Chateuabriand, beef Wellington, etc. and all was well prepared. All in all it was appreciably better that RCCL in this regard. Another plus is that my wife requested Indian food (not on the menu) and received it every night and it was well prepared. Of course the head chef was Indian and in fact had achieved some sort of award for his craft.
4. Fitness center: Very good facilities, again appreciably better than RCCL.
5. Entertainment: A bit of a downer. The entertainment director was a riot, Jorge if I recall but the shows on RCCL were alot better.
5. Service: We were fortunate to have a team of terrific waiters so of course this is a big plus. Overall the service was pretty good. The cabin steward was OK, not as attentive as he could have been but adequate.
Relax and enjoy your cruise. You'll be fine. BTW where are you headed to?

DHagan-

I sent an email to your personal email. I hope you don't mind. When you go the must see show of the ship is the passenger talent show. Both trips was great to see. Talented passengers...............

I do not recall the name of the ship our family took with Carnival. We had a terrible experience. We booked 5 rooms and by the end of the trip 3 of the bathroom toilets overflowed. Two of the family members had food poisoning. Other rooms had similiar plumbing problems. Many passengers complained but nothing was done. My sister in law's carpeting was absolutely soaked with sewage.

AS I mentioned earlier, I do not recall the name of the ship. We have taken numerous cruises with other lines and enjoyed our vacations.

Good Luck.

To Alexandria: If you can't remember the name of the ship do you recall the time of year and port of embarkation? TIA.

Yes, We went on a short cruise for a family reunion over the Thanksgiving week-end. We went out of Florida and went to the Keys and one island. I am sorry to report our troubles, but it truly was as I said. I cannot recall exactly when we went. It had to be at least 3-5 years ago. Perhaps it is better now. I hope so.

We cruised on the Carnival Destiny out of New York to Nova Scotia four years ago. We thought the cabin was a good size (we had a balcony). The food was good (better than I expected). Shows were okay. Service was fine and all in all it was fun. We had terrible weather and couldn't really enjoy being on deck too much. It was the middle of July and cold and rainy. What can you do?

I think you will be fine.
