My husband and I will be sailing on the Triumph in April. I was wondering if anyone has tried to bring alcohol in their luggage. Do they check your bags? We sailed on Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas 2 years ago, and had no problem bringing it on. Our room steward even kept drinks on ice for us! It's not that we are cheap -- I realize that vacations are for spending money, however, it's nice to save a few bucks. Thanks!

They do not check suitcases brought to your room, but now look in hand luggage..we always take something for the room, and the steward always keeps it iced. The steward does not make money on drinks they sell, he get his money from you, so you are the one they like to keep happy. Used to be you could buy a bottle in the gift shop and drink it in the cabin, not now on most lines, they deliver it to you the last night of the cruise, same goes with buying it in port, on a recent cruise they checked to see if you bought on shore, and if you did they took it till the last night...hide it in your suitcase..

I just returned from a Medtiterranean cruise on Celebrity's CENTURY and we took several bottles of wine with us from California. They charged a $6.00 corkage fee (wine steward) in the dining room. You might want to call your cruise line and just be honest and ask. I called Celebrity before going just to check. If you do take wine with you and have your wine steward open it for you, please remember to provide them a gratuity at the end of your cruise. The wine steward's service is part of the percentage (norm is 15%) that is added to your cost for wine purchased. Not much can be made by wine stewards on 15% of a corkage fee. Have a great cruise. P.S. Celebrity was first rate all the way!

Me don't drink alot of alcohol, but we do drink alot of sodas. Last year on the Mercury we bought a case of sodas in Key West, our first port, and took them back to the ship. This year we took a case and a half with us- we wrapped each 12-pack in plastic, then wrapped all 3 in a large garbage bag. We put all of this in a 'disposable' tote bag and checked it at the airport. Even though our luggage missed the ship and we didn't see it until the 3rd day of the cruise- we only had 1 casualty. Out of 36 cans only one was punctured and the garbage bag protected all the other luggage.

We sailed on the Dawn Princess in September. After we had boarded the ship and put our stuff away, we walked into town (Seward, AK) and bought our own liquor. When we got back on the ship all they said was "A little shopping?" and smiled. There were several couples that had done this and we were all reboarding together and no one had any problem.

Just returned from a Cruise aboard the Facination and we had no problem. We bought 1 or 2 bottles in port and put them in our backpack and they even scanned them in the X-Ray machine. They were only concerned with the Boxes of Liquor that people brought aboard in St Thomas. Just be discreet and bring it aboard in your carry-on luggage. A Friend of mine brings a case of Asti-Spumante on board every time he cruises which is 2-3 times a year with no problem, so go figure.

Hi Chris. Just got off Carnival's Paradise, bought three bottles of alchol in port. When they scanned it they asked me if it was alchol I said yes then he said check with the guy at the desk. There was so many people around I just kept walking, had no problem.
