Bermuda on Celebrity last minute

We're contemplating a last minute cruise to Bermuda this month. We always thought when we went that we'd want a balcony room. How important is that to Bermuda?
Also, how does around $1,800 each sound for a standard outside cabin?
Thanks.

$1800 sounds EXORBITANT for a standard outside, especially since I assume you're talking about the Horizon, one of the line's older ships. I would say that you shouldn't need to go higer than $1000 per person, and even that's sort of high.

Balconies, I feel, are always an extremely nice touch, but I wouldn't consider it as much of an asset to Bermuda as it would be to, say, Alaska. In your case, too, you'll be docked in Hamilton for 3 days, so it's not like you'll be having a constantly changing landscape.

Thanks for your help.
We're calling a travel agent today to see if they can find any last minute deals. Now I'll know what to aim for.
The other ship that Celebrity runs to Bermuda is the Zenith. Is it worth holding out for that ship next year? It seems from the research that I've done that Celebrity is the favorite of many "cruisers"...???
Both ships dock at St. George Island and Hamilton. Is St. George the place that others have said is a waste?
Thanks again.

Not sure where you are coming from but out of Halifax you can get a cruise to Bermuda (airfare included to NY) for around $1300/person for one week. I would assume that is a standard cabin.

As for Hamilton/St. George, Bermuda is only 21 miles long. You are only a hop, skip and a jump from either port and can do the same activities on the Island from either spot. I would suggest if you want to explore the Island, purchase a bus/ferry pass for 3 days and it will take you just about anywhere. A cruise is a great way to see Bermuda since accommodations and food can add up! Enjoy!

Celebrity cruises are going for around $799, do look around. At very least check out the cruise websites to get a better idea.

St. George is a charming and quaint little village and not to be missed..We sail on the Majesty and are docked there away from the zillions of cruisers on Front Street in Hamilton. There is an itinerary that includes the Dockyard, Hamilton and St. George fromNew York and I think that would be ideal.. The cruise to Bermuda from the Majesty were on sale for run of the ship $499.00 recently.. A balcony is not necessary as you are as a previous poster mentioned in Bermuda three full days anyhow. The price of $1,800 sounds very high...at this time of the year..

That price is high, but search around. You should be able to find it for much less. And then go for it...the Celebrity Horizon Charleston-Bermuda was our first cruise five or six years ago and was a great trip. After six cruises, Celebrity is still our favorite line. (Although off on the QE2 in a couple weeks--ask me if that still holds true next month.)
