I don't know what excursions are available, but in Antigua you would probably want to see Nelson's Dockyard; in St. Lucia the Pitons. In Barbados I'd suggest taking your bathing suits, renting your own transportation and driving around the whole island.

Steve,
My son and I took that cruise last Dec. on the Galaxy. Great ship; great trip. The Atlantis Submarine in Barbadoes is fantastic if you don't scuba. Also the catamaran cruise from Castries to Soufriere to see the drive-in volcano on St. Lucia was great. If you go to Martinique though, DON'T do the tour to St. Pierre. We spent 4 gut-wrenching hours winding along hairpin roads only to be in St. Pierre for 20 minutes! And we didn't even get to see the butterfly farm as advertised. But other than that..we had a wonderful time. Celebrity is a terrific cruise line (travelled with them twice).

We loved St. Lucia and Barbados on our first cruise in January 1999.

St. Lucia: Avoid walking around in Castries - much crime and nothing worth seeing.

Book an excursion that picks one up at the ship or at the dock. We picked the Jungle Safari. We had a blast. There is some hiking involved, but all age groups had a lot of fun. We toured a sugar plantation that has been converted to a working museum. We went up in the hills and had the freshest fruit that we have ever tasted. We then hiked through the jungle to a beautiful waterfall.

Barbados: Bridgetown is very nice and virtually crime free. Feel free to roam. There is decent shopping, dining and museums.

The beaches on the west coast are better than the south. There is too much to see in one day - Harrison caves, the rustic Atlantic coast, rum distillery tour, exploring Bridgetown on foot, etc.

Have fun. We are returning to St. Lucia and Barbados on the Horizon at Xmas.

We hired a taxi driver for the day in
Castries for 100 Dollars. He proved to be a very good guide, very knowledgable
& took us all over the Island. Can't
reccomend him enough but if you do this
be sure to agree a price at the outset.
Didn't see any crime in Castries but the "Storm Drains" or whatever they are at the side of the road were badly maintained & looked treacherous.

We were in the Southern Caribbean in May and loved it.

Barbados - We rented at taxi for the day. We went to Animal Flower Cave, Mount Gay Rum tour, Folkestone for snorkeling, Animal preserve (green monkies are hard to spot except for 3pm when they are fed). Beautiful island great people don't miss having a flying fish sandwich.

St. Lucia - We love St. Lucia and look forward to spending a week there some day. We contacted scuba st lucia and arranged for a day trip to their resort Anse Chastanet. By far the best part of our trip. We snorkled all day and it was incredible. The excursion also included an incredible buffet lunch. You can contact them at www.scubastlucia.com
Antigua - We visited Nick Mauley(creator of yoda) nice man. Bought a customized map of our cruise. Took a kayak excursion. Lots of fun included snorkeling.
We enjoyed everything we did. Hope you have a great trip.

Our review is at www.geocities.com/dswolfson

Hi Steve: We loved our Southern caribbean cruise. In St. Lucia the cruise to the Pitons and the drive in volcano is a do not miss. You will also get a lovely caribbean Chicken lunch. This was on of the best excursions we have ever taken. The diamond falls was beautiful. Marigot bay is lovely and you will also get a chance to go for a swim at anse Couchon. In St.John usvi the tour to Trunk Bay to snorkle was great. In Barbados we have rented a car (moke) it was a blast. We drove to Speightstown stopping at Mullins Bay etc for a swim walk on the beach. Over to Farley Hill and Cherry Tree hill for great views. Along the east coast to barclay Park and bathesba and then to codrington College and St James Church for glorious views and history. we went to Andromeda gardens which was very nice. We went to Bottom bay which was breathtaking then to Crane Beach for a drink. We ended our day by having a swim at Accura beach and finally a happy hour cocktail at the Barbado Hilton which has a great viewing area for the sunset. On our second visit to Barbados we went shopping in Bridgetown and walked to Brown's Bay to the
Boatyard an easy walk from downtown. In the afternoon we took a great snorkling excursion aboard the Tiami Excellence . We went snorkling at the folkstone underwater park and then to Sandy Lane Beach. We walked up the beach to Paynes beach which was a great time, just the two of us. In the evening we went back to the Boatyard for drinks and then to the Rusty Pelican for a bite to eat and then took a taxi back to the ship which we had arranged when he dropped us off. Have a great trip. karen
