Are 2 night cruises worth it?

I'm considering a 2 night cruise on the Sun Princess, Sydney - Melbourne and interested in others experience of very short cruises.
This appeals as we live in Sydney and fits in perfectly as our son will finish his high school exams the week before so can leave the kids with family for a few days. I figure my husband and I will need the break despite being so brief.
He thinks it will be too short. Have previously been on the Sapphire for 12 nights which I loved and he thought a bit too long. I don't really care - I just want to cruise again!

Thanks!

I think it would be too short. Would there be any point unpacking?
It normally takes us a day or two to get into "cruise mode" anyway, so it would not be for me and my husband. The shortest one we've done is 13 days. I love cruising, so anything less than that would be disappointing IMO.

I totally agree. You still have to go through check in, do the muster drill, check out....although I wouldn't totally rule it out. I'd consider going to a resort for a couple days and that's not much different. If you don't have any driving to do and no hassle to get there, it might be okay. I took a 3 night cruise once and it was WAY too short for the trouble, but we had to fly.

Why not? If the drive to the pier is a quick one, it's a perfect weekend getaway.

We often drive somewhere for a 2 night stay and IMO it is no more of a hassle to get on a ship and go.

I have done a couple great for a weekend type getaway, you just need a small carry all bag, and your set to kick back and relax.

Any day on a cruise is better than a day at home or work..and if you can drive to the port...why not!!!

If it were convenient to my home and the price were right, I'd think about it. But in considering the price, remember that you will likely board mid-late afternoon, have one dinner and overnight; wake up and have one full day on the cruise, and the next morning be tossed off the ship again. It's really not very much time on the ship, but for the right price ------

swaymock, why not get on early, as most ships are boarding by noon.

They will serve a nice lunch, two dinners in the main dining room as well as breakfasts and lunch.

There will be entertainment options as well as the normal cruise ship stuff that goes on.

kfusto: Depends on what time they will let you on the ship. I've been onto Princess by 11:30; on my one and only Carnival cruise they kept us waiting for hours in folding chairs in a warehouse in NYC at the port and didn't get on until probably 4:00. I don't know what to expect of the Sun in Sydney.

swaymock, that must have not been fun! I have never had a problem but worst was Carnival in Port Canaveral when computers were all down and it took 2 hours to check in!

I would do it...especially if the price is right.
Two days away from the daily grind always helps.

BON VOYAGE!!!!

Thanks everyone for your comments. The more I think about it the more keen I am. As for boarding I think it would be late morning as the Sapphire was, and we would be there early to make the most of it!

Oz: The Sapphire is a fantastic ship sir. We cruised her for 7 days in 2005 in Alaska. She's a beaut.
