Anyone sail recently on the NCL Sky?
HI, We are sailing on the NCL sky 4/11/04 out of San Juan and my kids are concerned that the ship will be filled with local puerto ricans speaking spanish. The prices are so low that we are not sure what to expect. It is our easter break so we were hoping to have other kids on their break also from the US.

When I first read your question I was tempted not to reply even though I have recently been on the Sky (beginning of Feb). Why - I found it a little racist. So what if local Puerto Ricans are on a ship leaving from Puerto Rico ? Maybe it would do your kids some good to learn a little Spanish and realize the entire world is not English speaking.
OK - I have calmed down now and will
assume your kids were concerned that there would be no-one speaking English. On our cruise the vast majority of cruisers were from the continental U.S.

I know this is an old post, but I'm wondering if marcia is still around?
We sailed on the Sky April 18th, and it had THE WORST service our party has ever experienced in over 30 collective cruises. It was almost beyond belief how awful it was. Breakfast in the dining room took over 2 hours, people routinely got up and walked out of the dining room because they couldn't wait, passengers had to bus their own tables in the buffet, our cabin wasn't cleaned 3 out of 7 nights. I could go on, truly unbelievable.
I'm just wondering how Marcia found her cruise to be the prior week.
I think a lot of the awful service was due to the training of the new American crew which was replacing the existing crew. Every crew member we spoke with was brand new, and it showed. I wrote a letter to the CEO of NCL 4 weeks ago and haven't so much as received a phone call.
Never again NCL.

Whereas you may see some Spanish-speaking passengers, in my recent experience with this ship the majority were English-speaking (as were a lot of the "Spanish speakers wo were bi-lingual).
If Nina's "experience" outlined above was "typical" the cruise line would be out of business. As usual there are two sides to every story which are rarely heard in forums such as this.
