aix-en-provence - villefrance

Hi all you experts - our first euro/med. cruise. One of our 8 loves aix-en-provence and would like to try to travel by train from villefrance. Is it possible in our 10 hours at this location? How would I find train schedules? Thanks in advance, we are on the Brilliance leaving May 11th 2006.

I think that is possible. We were going to do that but unfortunately we were there on sunday and everything is closed. I think you should be able to find a train schedule online.

thanks for the reply - RonZ - is it too far? Or the fact of the train schedules? I am in charge of finding out this info for the group? If you are familiar with this area - small pretty town to visit?

Indycruise8,

The distance is too great to travel by train in the alotted time. Villefrance is one of my favorite ports because of its proximity to Monte Carlo, Nice and Cannes. Enjoy the day there and have a great cruise..

It's actually VillefrancHe, and from there you could take a quick taxi to Nice and then a train to Aix--but about all you would see is the countryside along the train. However, you could rent a car and drive to Aix in a little over 2 hours, leaving you a bit of time to see the city.

Alternatively, you could explore Nice--much to see and do there and not at all far from Villefranche. The nearby peninsula of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is exceptionally beautiful, even for this area.
