I thought Caneel Bay was mostly honeymooners and people who want a quiet trip with no little feet running around. As hard as I try to be considerate and as well behaved as she is for 2. My daughter is still after all only 2. I do not want to be uncomfortable or have others be.

Caneel has quite a few youngsters. It has a sedate crowd, and honeymooners and middle agers etc. It covers all!
I have seen infants, and toddlers, and older kids. Children are not suppose to be on Scott or Paradise Beach, but you have others (as there are 7) to go too! There are high chairs in the Equator restaurant. Lots of casual restaurants in Cruz Bay, and I have seen toddlers. The hotel has rooms spread out all over its 170 acress. Now all the upscale resorts have opened their doors to kids as there is a boom on and they have to be competitve!

Beth - I also have a 2 year old and we are from N.Y. We have taken him to the Atlantis in the Bahamas and Bermuda three times, in addition to Puerto Rico. We are taking him to Anguilla in April, flying first to St. Martin and then a quick ferry to Anguilla.

Lisa

Susan-

I did not ask for an opinion as to whether to bring my daughter on vacation. In fact, we are leaving her with Grandma in March and taking a vacation alone. Something not everyone has the luxury of doing by the way. Some people enjoy a vacation with their children. What I did ask for was suggestions as to where a family of 3 with a toddler should go. Your response was not only useless it was rude.

Jalousie hilton in St. Lucia would be a good place for a toddler. The place is safe and there is a good shuttle service around the resort. There are children't buffets at most every meal (still a little pricey @ $8. There were quite a few kids there so it would be no problem. The main drawback would be the long day of travel to get there - that would be tough on most two year olds. The main reason to go to this destination would be for your benefit since a two year old would be equally happy on any warm beach with sand.

I would second the recommendation for the Hyatt Dorado in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The resort is not the most luxurious in the Carribean but it is nice and the trip will probably give you less headached than others. Children would by no means be frowned on there. They have a shuttle which picks you up from the airport and drives you to the resort (about 30 minutes from San Juan). One thing I would mention is that I would pay the extra for a beachfront room as the golf front rooms are a bit shabby and in need of refurbishment.

You might considering sending the toddler via Virtual Bellhop. A nanny will pick up your bundle of joy, package it, ship it, and deliver it right to your hotel.
www.virtualbellhop.com

Beth-I have been to St. Lucia at The Jalousie Hilton. It is a trip -as once you get to the airport it is a very windy round 1 hour van ride. I also think its a stop-over in San Juan. I was very glad to see St. Lucia but I would not go again. It did not have the white sand and ice pop blue water!
and I felt very confined!
