Last year we went to St John and had the most wonderful time. It was the one of the best vacations yet. We want to go to a place a bit cheaper but just as nice. I know this is a hard request if you have been to St John. Where should we go now? I have been to Jamaica, Bahamas, Aruba, and St Maartin. Cayman Islands sound wonderful but I think expensive. Any suggestions? Where do you go for the best deals (please do not suggest priceline since I had a horrendous experience).

Hi Lorraine: How about Barbados, it has everything. I agree that St.John is wonderful but so is Barbados and there is a little more to do. Great beaches, history and its easy to navigate on your own. St. Lucia is also lovely but I like some place I'm not always looking over my shoulder. Next to Aruba
i found it very comfortable in Barbados.

Karen is right about St. Lucia, besides, hard to get around the island, and not much to do. and it's expensive.. I just booked my honeymoon to Barbados because it was more reasonable than the Caymans, and I've been to St. Martin/maarten, St. Lucia and Turks and Caicos.. Turks was incredible too, the most amazing color water, and tons of wildlife. And I booked my trip thru Garber travel. Ask about the Bougainvillea in Barbados, in the fun lots to do southern area, but a nice resort, nice big rooms and not too pricey.. Depends on what you are looking for though..

Thanks. I have looked into Turks but it is even more than St John from what I priced. So St Lucia is not very safe? It will be my boyfriend and I. We love to sight see, snorkel, eat, relax, and have fun. So from what I am understanding Barbados is the way to go? How about Bermuda? Where do you guys go for the best deals for a package airfare and hotel? What hotel is considered 3-4 star in Barbados that you recommend?

Bermuda is *much* more expensive than St. John, so that would definitely be out.

We found St. Lucia to be safe and never once felt uncomfortable or in danger (I am from a large US city, so maybe that is relative).

If snorkeling is a top priority, you would find the best at Turks, out islands of Bahamas, and Caymans.
You can find reasonable places to stay on most islands. Turks has some guest houses and small inns that are very affordable.

Best deals on package airfare depend on where you are flying from. Where I live, Apple Vacations or Funjet charter flights are always the lowest.

St. Lucia is not an unsafe island. It is also one of the top honeymoon and wedding destinations! Package deals will probably be more cost effective to whatever destination you choose. Here's a good site:
