I'm going to Barbados for the first time this Xmas so any advise on what to do over the festive season would be great. I arrive on xmas day so any ideas for that evening and NYE would be really appriecated.

Hello Claire! I dont know about Barbados but I do know that the best New years Eve party that I know of anywhere is Jost Van Dyke, about 8 miles or so from St. John and close to St. Thomas beautiful litlle British Virgin Island. Sorry I cant help you with Barbados

We've been to Barbados numerous times over the holidays to celebrate my husband's Chrismas birthday.

You'll find Christmas Day (and night)to be very quiet. Most restaurants are closed, except for hotel restaurants. The next day (Boxing Day) can be quiet, also. But plenty of beach bars will be open!

As for New Year's, one great thing to do is take the cruise out on the Harbour Master, where you get to see fireworks going off at midnight. If you're younger (and I'm not!) there are tons of places to party like Harbour Lights on the South Coast.

Claire - Have a wonderful time. Yes, as Pat mentioned Christmas Day and Boxing Day are pretty quiet. I actually arrived one year on Christmas Day (evening) and only found one restaurant open. Find out from your hotel or villa co. what will be open.

Make sure you dine at The Cliff one evening for a fantastic meal! It is the only Caribbean restaurant that made it on Fodors top 50 list. It is fantastic.
