What is there to do on St. John island beside water sports?
We've been to Aruba and have found an abundant of things to do both day and into the evening.

In addition to all the watersports that one can handle, they have bars and the strip downtown where you can walk around (safely). Also sunset horseback riding, drive in theater, casinos, etc.

What else does St. John have to offer other than an abundance of Beauty!

Do people just go to St. John Island for R&R? What else is there to do?

I'd love to visit this beautiful island, but there might not be enough to do.

Thanks.

Happy travels!

If you are looking for casino's and drive-in movies and a downtown strip etc, don't even think about coming to St John.
St John is where you go to get away from all that crap. There is a small town at one end of the island and an even tinier town at the other end. In between the island is 2/3's national park.
Two resorts, around a dozen and a half restaurants and bars and that's about it. If you want beauty and peace come on down, if you want what they have in Aruba, you will be in for a huge disappointment.

Thank you.

That is what I thought, but I figure i'd double check with you guys. Me and my husband love R&R, and definitely want to go to St. John.

I bet after visiting this island, you definitely feel like you had a vacation...not like some of those hectic activity crazed vaca's!

Actually St. John sounds like a fabulous place, to get away from it all.

Thank you.

The joy of St. John is that there is little of the honkey tonk that you find on more developed islands. No casinos or fast food joints but there is minature golf. You can hike through the National Park, you can bike with the tour there, you can horseback ride or better yet rent a dink and go exploring the bays and beaches unaccessable by land. There's Cruz Bay with a couple of shopping areas and lots of local restaurants and bars (no chain restaurants or Carlos and Charlie kinda places), no booze boat rides or buses filled with drunken partiers. Coral Bay is funky with some great little spots. There's music and partying some nites The easy access to the BVI allows for exploring other islands by public ferry or by charter or you can head to St. Thomas for some of the best duty free shopping in the Caribbean. Tiny narrow hilly roads and of off-roading to explore. private little beaches and coves to enjoy. No Dunkin' Donuts but good restaurants locally owned. Certainly captures the best the Caribbean has to offer with tropical natuaral landscapes and not the manicured spaces on a desert island. Not the place to go for shoulder to shoulder hotels and casinos, tigers in cages, timeshares crowding the beach with people fighting over beachchairs early in the morning.
If Aruba offerings is what you like you won't like St. John. For most people it is Paradise.
