What are the room and management problems at Elbow?

Please give me details about room and management problems that Elbow Beach is rumored to have....really wanted to try their Ocean View Rooms for a stay in June, but not if they have "issues". thanks for info. Rita
Have heard both good and bad, but havent stayed there myself. Would be interested in the things that people found during recent stays at Elbow.

The overriding problem is value. The Elbow Beach Hotel is easily the most expensive hotel in Bermuda, (rooms approx $400 a night in high season). However, many people feel that they did not receive the service or amenities they expected at that price level. For example: the rooms are small and standard. The staff can also be lackadaisacal. Many people did not take kindly to this, especially since the resort boasted a multi million dollar renovation.

In other words, many guests did not feel that got what they paid for.

For more information, see the bulletin board at www.bermuda.com.

Forget $400 a night -
Try rooms at $510 a night BEFORE taxes and service charges (which brought the total to right about $600 A NIGHT!). The rooms are not just small and standard but run-down. Examples: Giant chunks out of the woodwork, ugly berber carpet that wasn't laid properly, walls that needed painting, halls that had gouged walls and old carpeting, upholstery that was faded and worn, etc. I would never have expected these types of things in a hotel that was advertising such a huge renovation and then charging such high prices. I wish someone had warned us before we went to Bermuda. We were so unhappy with the hotel that we almost left the island rather than continue to pay $600 a night for such a bad room. Thankfully, we finally find other vacancies and just switched hotels. But I feel like the first few days of our vacation was ruined. Please let us know what you decide. I know you will LOVE Bermuda but I can't imagine anyone being happy at Elbow Beach in its present state.

As I've always said time and again, I hope Bermuda will get wise and allow a newer, more luxurious Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons to be built on their island!!
