Weather Worries

I am freaking out about bad weather! I am leaving on July 28th for St. John and I am sooo paranoid about being blown away. Should I still go?

At the moment, there is nothing brewing in the tropical Atlantic to the east of the Virgin Islands. If you are concerned, take out trip insurance, just in case.

What bad weather are you talking about? While it is a little too early to tell what will happen on St. John and the surrounding islands on the 28th or after, there is nothing on the weather maps to indicate problems.

By the way, don't believe what you see on sites like weather.com, they always predict rain. For more accurate information try:

Thanks! I feel better already. I guess I was just worried about tropical storms turning into something major like H. Emily. I'm just a worry wort.

I would still take my vacation, but have an open mind that it is weather and things can happen and storms can develop and change their paths as well, even while already at your destination. We just had this happen while in Jamaica. We arrived on the heels of Dennis and left on the heels of Emily. Recommend the trip insurance during hurricane season.

Don't worry. The Virgin Islands are pretty civilized. Like A Traveller says, there's no telling right now what the weather will be like. And if you do get caught in a storm, they're very prepared down there for this sort of thing. You'll be fine.
