Water Club Or Wyndham Old San Juan??

I cannot recommend the Water Club. We stayed there in June 2001 for one night before a return flight from San Juan. The hotel's location is great. Although it does not have a private beach, it is located directly across a public beach which was not very crowded. Now the bad: While we were staying there, the hotel was undergoing a major reconstruction (lobby was torn down, the rooftop area/pool was being remodeled, etc.) Apart from that, the hotel's furnishings were very basic, even minimalistic. They play this annoying music in the hallways which I suppose is meant to recreate the sounds of the ocean. Well, from inside your room it sounds more like someone continuously vacum-cleaning the hallways. It was pretty annoying after awhile. It still was a ok place to stay for us for our last night on the island since the hotel is close to the airport and we were still right on the beach.

I cannot comment on Wyndham Old San Juan (I understand it is close to the port with no beach around). I can highly recommend though Wyndham El San Juan. It is also on the Isla Verde beach (a 5-minute walk from the Water Club). It has nice, spacious rooms with balconies, beautiful gardens and pool area with jacuzzis, a private beach, several good restaurants, a casino and fabulous nightlife three nights a week centered around two bars and a nightclub. A much, much better choice than the Water Club IMHO. We stayed at the El San Juan for four nights and loved it.

The Wyndham Old SAn Juan is near the ship piers - no beaches close by. THe water CLub is in Isla Verde, near the airport, and close to the beach. Other hotels in Isla VErde, on the beach, are The Wyndham El San Juan, Ritz Carlton and Intercontinental.

The wyndham old san juan has no beach. It is near the pier, good service and great restaurants at the hotel and nearby. The water club is smaller in the isla verde area and has a beach. You might also conside the wyndham el san juan hotel. it has a beach and 3 restaurants, 5 min from the airport and 10 to 15 min. from old san juan.

If you have any questions regarding hotels and tourism in Puerto Rico call the Puerto Rico tourism company toll free at 1-800-866-7827 or 1-866-246-8677.

Also visit this website, it can help in finding a hotel: www.travelandsports.com

Have posted this many times before, but we stayed at the Wyndham post cruise last year and it was terrible. The food sucked, the carpet was filthy, they lost our luggage and room, we were downgraded, room service lost the crap they called a meal. Staff was terribly nasty.

I would look into the San Juan Grand. It's in the same area as the El San Juan but not as pricey and you can still walk to the El San Juan and enjoy the lobby, casino and restaurants and have money left over.
