My wife and I have been to St. Thomas and didn't care for it much. It depends on what part of the island you stay. I can't speak specifically for the others. We've been visiting the Bahamas for the last 15 years or so. The ones we like so far are the Abacos (http://www.abacos.com/) and Harbour Island (http://www.harbourislandguide.com/)
From everything I've read, Harbour Island sustained very little damage. I'm not sure about the Abacos.

We stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian in Sept. 2003. I have to disagree with the previous poster reagrding the beach. Yes, it is somewhat small, but very doable with white, soft sand and plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The water was warm and crystal. SRB's focal point is their 2 huge fablous pools rather than the beach area. Which we spent most of our time.
The resort has several bars and restuarnts as well as a piano bar, disco, billards room/game area, and full service spa. We really didn't feel the need to leave the resort to be entertained. Plus everything was all-inclusive. However we did visit Atlantis, go on a catamaran cruise, went to the Ardasta Zoo and Gardens and into town for shopping. Their off-shore private Island is nice if you want total seclusion. It has a beach area, small pool and outdoor restaurant. We didn't find it very impressive though and spent most of the time at the Manor pool with the swim-up bar.
We've not yet been to USVI, but it's on our list.
