Turks, etc: Seashells, weather, ferries
We're considering a stay at Beaches in Turks & Caicos this summer. Have never been there. A few questions: does anyone know if the weather is reliable (i.e., little rain) in July? How are the beaches for shelling? Are there ferries between cays to explore or go on shelling trips. Thanks so much for any help. Jan

Went to Beaches, T&C last April. If you aren't taking you kids and are getting away from it all, this is not the place to stay. If you are taking kids, it will be great. Cheri who also responded said no ferries to the other cays. I brought back a magazine I picked while there and many oppotunities to go to the other cays (boat, air etc.) Check internet site www.provo.net/wwh/. I don't think shells are a T&C specialty

The area in front of Beaches in the Turks is a marine park so it is illegal
to remove "anything" from the area .That includes all shells , coral etc.
They are very protective of thier marine life and for good reason , it is just great when you do world-class snorkelling right off the beach . The
phrase " take only pictures, leave only footprints" certainly does apply. And for the divers out there the phrase is "take only pictures, leave only bubbles". Enjoy.
