Trip to Cozumel While Pregnant?
I am pregnant and thinking of taking a long weekend away with my husband before the baby comes. My doctor cleared me to fly, but I am worried about going somewhere without adequate medical facilities (just in case) and where the local water and produce might make me sick. Any thoughts about Cozumel on these issues? (I am thinking about the Presidente IC.)

We stayed at the Presidente evey year for two weeks for 10 years, and I never had any problems with getting ill.
BUT, it is hotter than Hades in downtown San Miguel during the day and quite warm at night, so depending on how far along you will be, that activity might be out.
If you are only going for a long weekend, the Presidente has a nice pool area with shade palapas and a beauftiful beach with shade palapas and beverage service, so you could relax by the pool or on the beach with a book while your husband snorkels or dives.
The hotel also has gorgeous open breezy common areas with comfy chairs and sofas.
The reef rooms (premium rooms) also have big stone terraces just steps from the beach.
I always felt that any medical facilities in Cozumel would be well run, (although luckily, I never had to find out)and in case of something more serious, you are a 20 minute flight from Cancun, and not too far from Miami from there.
If you are not having a high risk pregnancy (obviously you are not if your doc cleared you to fly) I cannot see why not.
The hotel staff is the best I've ever run across. It's a wonderful property.

Absolutely!
But if you're like me, and are easily chilled, you might want to buy a neoprene vest to keep you warmer.
We are divers, and I have tried just about all of the exposure protection gear, and for ease of packing, warmth and cost, that works best for me.

We went to Playa del Carmen when I was seven and-a-half months pregnant. Had a great time. No problem with water, being sick, etc...Only problem was with workers at Chichen Itza, Xel-Ha, Hotel, thinking I was incapable of doing active things. I either just ignored them or told them to take a hike. And went ahead anyway.
