Thanks, Blamona. I'll definitely look at the D10.
I prefer an environment like Harbour Island with some choice in accommodations and dining, without being over-developed or super crowded. I think that on many of the out islands, I would feel too isolated or that my lodging and food choices were too limited.

Hi Blamona--I stumbled upon your post because I'm looking for activities within the FLL airport to do on a 4 hour layover, and loved your post and pictures. Actually, I used to work for Club Med (a GO) back in 1990 at Eleuthera, Bahamas. Sadly, I hear that the Club got flattened in a hurricane. I think Eleuthera had the best beach of anywhere I've been! The sand was baby powder soft and PINK because the coral there is white and red. Like you, I'm obsessed with turquoise water and photography. I also own the D10 and just got a T1i at Christmas.
For anyone looking for an underwater/rugged camera, the D10 is the way to go. We had an Olympus and it actually leaked water in it and it died after 1 1/2 years (only 2 trips with heavy underwater use). The D10 has a funky shape and is thicker than other point and shoots, but the seals are excellent and it's also "drop-proof" which allows me to let the kids use it without too much fear. With this cam, there's no need to bring my big DSLR to the beach and ruin it with the sand and fear theft. The picture quality is excellent, as evidenced in the pics from Blamona. Thanks again for your post!

I love the Canon D10-so happy with it. It takes decent above water pictures too-
So Denise, it would be fun to walk around the Hard Rock Resort and shopping area, it's close to the airport, and a fun place to stretch the legs. Or, we head into the beach at FLL, eat at Oasis Cafe, then return to airport. I would take a taxi, as rental cars would eat up your time--you have to take a shuttle to the car terminal, and then make sure you get gas, so taxi over to Oasis!
