Hi! We're headed for our 1st trip to Tortola in 3 weeks and would like to know about distances between beaches. We're staying at the Mongoose Apts. which are in CGB, but we definitely want to visit some other beaches in the area. Can you walk from one beach to another or is it necessary to take a taxi? For example, if we wanted to go over to Apple Bay or Carrot Bay, what would be the best way to go? Also, which beaches would you recommend we visit? We'll be there for 3 days before heading off to Jost Van Dyke for 3 and then St. John for 5 days. Tortola is the only island of the 3 we haven't been to.

You should rent a vehicle to visit the other beaches. Apple and Carrot Bay are over a very steep hill from Cane Garden Bay.

I suggest smugglers bay and long bay (they are near each other) and Brewers Bay for snorkeling.

You'll need a car or taxi to bring you to other beaches. Smugglers Cove is great. They usually have a few vendors that sell drinks and barbeque.

I would definitely rent a car. There are many fun little beaches to explore. Smugglers (for scenery and relaxation)and Brewers (for snorkling)are musts. Taxis are not easy to come by and I would not recommend walking on thw narrow roads.
