Tennis At RIU Tropical BAy
I have read one post that states there is no tennis at RIU. All printed material states they have day and night tennis. We are traveling there over Christmas with two avid tennis players and would like to know if this post is true. Tahnks

You might get a response here, more Jamaica people and I know at least a few have stayed at Riu:

Pappy,
good luck finding tennis in the Caribbean. Even the resorts that are part of PBI have very limited programs. You might want to consider Club Med's Paradise Island -- I haven't been there but it's supposed to be an active program. Most of the people you find playing tennis at Caribbean and Florida resorts are local folks, so if you really want to play a lot I would pursue that angle.
The fact is the sport is simply losing popularity when it comes to people actually playing.

There's a great villa in Negril with a private beach and tennis courts just for the one house....it's called Llantrissant, very cool place, well-kept courts and all your own anytime.
But you have to stay there to use those.
Couples Swept Away has a large sports facility that no doubt includes tennis, they're on the main beach a mile or two from Riu.
If the printed material says they have tennis I'd assume they do...did you book through a travel agent and if so, did you ask?

Couples Swept Away has excellent tennis or you can stay at Idle Awhile - an excellent non all inclusive on Negril beach owned by the wife of the owner of Swept Away so you have priveleges at Swept Away but it is a long walk up the beach. Can ride would only be a few dollars though. Idle Awhile is on a great beach and is very nice and you can enjoy the great food and music all along the beach rather than the boring fare offered at most all inclusives.
