st thomas restaurants & beaches

Will be in ST Thomas over the holidays. Rented a villa on the far west end. Other than Magens & Coki, any other nice beaches accessible. Also ideas for fun reasonable restaurants to take our 3 college boys to.. I'm sure they'll find their own night life later on in the evening.

All the beaches on the island are public but not the chairs and umbrellas on them! I would definately check out Secret Harbour and Sapphire is another - in fact, I think Sapphire is the prettiest beach! They have a Sunday beach party that lots seem to enjoy! You will also want to trek to St. John to check the multitude of wonderful beaches there!!! College men can and do eat lots (but you know that!) ... might want to check the Restaurant Guide when you get on island for buffets!! Bryan's at Hull Bay seems to be a favorite "moderate" priced restaurant!

The whole thing about beaches is the day you are there. Ask about beach conditions....a world class beach is a disaster under the wrong weather conditions. Locals know the calmest, warmest, nicest beaches on any given day. Hope this helps.

Try Cousins (maybe Cuzins) for great local food.

With 3 collage boys I'd recommend Duffy's love shack in RedHook. It looks like a dive from the road but is quite pleasant. It is a theme restuarant with a singing shark that comes on to Jimmy buffet. We ate there twice because our kids liked it so much. They are 10 and 13. I found the food to be quite tasty for the $. We also ate at a place near Hard Rock Cafe in Charlotte Amalie. I can't remember the name but it was an open air place that was quite large. There were pool tables in the back. The food was very reasonable and good portions. We all thought the food was a very good value.
